Ministry Highlight

NCYG is where church gets a lot more fun.

North Central Youth Group events, classes, retreats and mission trips are created to celebrate life together in a way that is fun for believers and welcoming to those who aren't into "church."

We don't go to church, we are the church!

We learn who and what God is all about.
Sunday mornings at 9:45 am – Here's one of the steps we take in growing closer to God. We spend time together discovering God's people in His Word through a series of character studies. We don't sit in rows like in class at school, but instead join a group of kids our own age, who are learning what it means to have a relationship with God. Most of us stay for worship service at 10:45 am and sit together.

We dig deeper.
Wednesday nights at 7:15 pm – Here's a chance to grow deeper and closer. We discuss, interact, and we apply the bible to our lives. Real problems, real peer pressure, distractions, temptations ... we talk about all of it. Then we figure out together how to get better at being more like God wants us to be.

We hang out together.
We have one event every month that focuses on one of the 3 S's – spiritual, social, and service – like canoeing, mowing lawns for the elderly, paintball, lock ins, serving at the soup kitchen, youth rallies. Every second Friday of the month is Youth Night. We meet at the church to just hang out - watch movies, go bowling, play games.

We have covenant groups.
Guys meet every Monday night, girls meet every other Monday night. It's a time to deepen our faith, learn leadership and hold each other accountable for our day-to-day living.

There's a mission trip once a year.
This year NCYG is going to Red Lake, Minnesota to join 400 other teens on a mission to the Chippewa Indian Reservation. While we learn about their heritage, culture and history we will be teaching a kids' program and helping with home improvement projects. We will also get a chance to meet and work with other teens from around the US.

We go on retreats.
This year’s high school retreat is called Reveal. It’s about revealing something to ourselves, to others and to God. For NCYG high school members only, the minute we arrive at the retreat, we jump in deep and open up. It’s great because we strengthen our friendships and really share what’s on our hearts, and grow our spiritual life. It’s also our opportunity to say goodbye to the seniors that are leaving for college in the fall.

There's also a lot of other retreat opportunities throughout the year, for both middle school and high school kids.

We have a Youth Council.
Our Youth Council is awesome. It's made up of our Youth Minister, Jason Cirrincione, along with Mark Williamson and John Sharkitt. Guys who are experienced in working with youth and are really cool. The other members are two parent representatives, two non-parent representatives, two high school and two middle school representatives. The Council meets once a month to discuss past, current and future events and the youth group in general. It is a great leadership experience to be part of the Youth Council and as teen representatives we even run some of the youth events. Teens serve one term on the Council and learn a lot about Christian leadership.
