Praise Team (aka “singers with mics”) – we believe in the team concept of worship leadership here at North Central. It best supports our tradition of purely a cappella singing, and enables each worshipper to hear his or her part. We know not everyone who worships with us sings a harmony part; many just sing the lead line which is just fine with us. But if you want to sing alto, tenor, or bass, we not only give you the sheet music, but we provide a leader for you (usually two singers per harmony part) to follow.
If you’d like to be a part of the praise team, contact Murray at murray@nccoc.org. There are basic requirements, but you’d be surprised how little they have to do with “ability to sing”. We rehearse every Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm, and the team arrives at 8:00 am on Sundays, and sings for both of our morning services.
A word about the Praise Team
Though we have 6 to 8 singers sitting near the front with microphones each week, we view the entire church as the praise team here at North Central. In other words, giving praise to God is the privilege and responsibility of the entire gathered group…not just that of the singers with microphones in their hands. It is clear to us and to our congregation that GOD is the intended audience. Sure, we are all built up and strengthened by the sounds of each other singing our hearts out, but that’s just a healthy by-product.
