Who are North Central’s Young Adults?
North Central’s young adults class formed in summer 2008, when, for the first time in years, the congregation included a significant number of college students and twenty-somethings. North Central is excited by how the group continues to grow after its first year.
When do North Central’s Young Adults meet?
The group meets on Sunday mornings for fellowship and discussion-based Bible classes. Many of the young adults also meet outside of Sunday morning church for a Bible study hosted in members’ homes. These weekly meetings are a great way for class members to better get to know one another, developing Christ-centered relationships with friends who encourage, support and strengthen each other.
Class members also frequently get together for game nights, holiday meals, and other fun events outside of the church building. As the weather warms up, the group plans to organize hiking trips and other outdoor activities.
North Central’s Young Adults enjoy serving together.
As members of North Central, the young adults seek opportunities to serve within the congregation and community. Several class members participate in the annual mission trip to Honduras. Others are plugged in to North Central’s One Another Groups or are involved in the Hispanic Ministry, outreach programs and youth ministry.
In March 2009, class members hosted a luncheon for North Central’s Senior Saints. The luncheon was the group’s first independent service project. It proved to be a great bonding experience not just for the young adults working together in the kitchen, but also between the young adults and the older luncheon attendees, who enjoyed getting to know this demographic now making a name for itself in the congregation.
