Our youth ministry team desires to help students take ownership of their faith and discover how meaningful it is to live the life God intends. Classes and covenant groups are focused on the Bible and life-related. Discussions center on the issues that confront teens, and how faith informs those situations. Summer camp, mission trips, weekend retreats, and other activities throughout the year are opportunities to help our youth grow and stretch themselves to know God better, and to connect with each other.
Crosswalk is a North Central Youth Group ministry that focuses on connecting teens and their families with each other through Christ. Teens can find a place to belong, make lasting relationships, and draw closer to Christ and each other through activities and events that focus on Loving God, Loving Others and Serving Others. All activities are based around worshiping, socializing in community, or serving. Jason Cirrincione, Youth Minister says, "We don’t want to just learn about Jesus, but walk with him in our day to day life.”
North Central participates in an annual conference in Gatlinburg, TN which attracts over 14,000 teenagers from around the country. The conference provides an opportunity to hear powerful speakers and experience worship in a larger setting. Staying in cabins away from the conference allows time for directed conversations after the conclusion of the evening sessions. The Winterfest trip is a formative experience for our teens, both in terms of their walk with God and relationships with each other.
Advance and Reveal Retreats
Each new school year gets kicked off with a retreat that involves both middle and high school students. It’s a great way for new students to get acquainted with the teen group, and time is spent considering how the group as a whole can encourage each other to grow in their faith together. Reveal is a weekend retreat for senior high students, typically spent on the road, stopping at various locations with a particular focus in which we discover things about God and each other.
Mission trips are big focus every summer, reflecting North Central’s vision of “transformed lives…for the sake of the world.” The mission trip focus is on a 3-year rotation: local, domestic, and foreign locations. These trips reinforce the idea that you can serve God and have an impact on lives anywhere you live.
Summer camp at Spring Mill Bible Camp is an opportunity to get away from regular routines. It provides an ideal setting for focusing on our walk with God. Teens from other area churches also participate in the week-long camp, which only builds a sense of connection and that they aren’t alone in their faith.
North Central youth meet Sunday mornings at 9:45 am at the Teen House and Sunday evenings for Crosswalk on the main campus at 5:00 pm.
