We live in an uncertain and often troubling world. Our journeys bring us into regular contact with dire circumstances, such as covid-19 and race riots. Such things often cause great anxiety in our lives and some of them test our faith. We are not, however, the first people to run into such obstacles. In fact, the first generation of Christians ran into serious obstacles that made their journeys with God almost unbearable. The writer of Hebrews sent to these struggling followers of Christ a sermon, centered on the identity of Jesus, meant to provide strength for their journey. Perhaps those words can provide strength for us, too.
